The Contra Costa County Public Works Department invites all qualified individuals to apply for an excellent employment opportunity as a Senior Capital Facilities Project Manager position in the Department of Public Works located in Martinez, CA.   The position, under general direction from the Supervising Capital Facilities Project Manager, is responsible for the planning, development, design and execution of all phases related to capital projects for the construction and improvements to county facilities.  In addition, appointments in this position assist in the day-to-day operation and administration of the Capital Projects Management Division in the Public Works Department.

 

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record demonstrating the following:

  • Experience managing complex architectural/engineering work for capital projects

  • Ability to set, monitor, manage, and meet Capital Project budgets and schedules.

  • Effective listener and collaborator at all levels: regulatory, interagency, and within the division and department

  • Effective supervision and mentorship of staff; including the ability to lead, train, coach, and provide feedback to subordinate staff

Tentative Oral Exam: September 11, 2018  


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

License Required: 

1)Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.  Out of State valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license will be accepted during the application process.

 

AND

 

2) Possession of a valid State of California Certificate of registration as an Architect or Professional Engineer.

 

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in architecture, engineering, construction management or a closely related field.

 

Experience: Five (5) years of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) professional architectural or engineering experience in the design and construction of architectural/engineering building construction, renovation, upgrading, remodeling, and tenant improvement projects.


 

SELECTION PROCESS

  2. Application Evaluation: Depending on the number of applications received, an Application Evaluation Board may be convened to evaluate and select the best-qualified candidates for invitation to the next phase of the examination.

  3. Oral Interview: Conducted by a Qualifications Appraisal Board who will evaluate candidates in job-related areas.
