Job Title: Architectural Designer

Safdie Architects is in search of junior designers with exceptional creativity and communication skills to join the practice. We welcome highly motivated candidates who can work effectively in a team environment and contribute new insights into projects and our office culture.

The position requires experience in the production of concept, schematic and design development documents for large scale, programmatically complex public and private projects. The architectural designer will be involved on a project from concept through completion, working directly with Moshe Safdie and the firm’s Design Principals to develop and execute the design.

In addition to an aptitude for design and problem solving, candidates must be highly motivated and have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Safdie Architects relies heavily on the building of physical models, the use of advanced digital design software and techniques, rapid-prototyping, etc. – candidates must have demonstrated skills in these areas.

Aside from involvement on the architectural projects – designers will have the opportunity to work on research driven efforts and assist with publications and exhibitions.

Knowledge and experience requirements:

  • Expertise in AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite and rendering software (Maxwell);
  •  Excellent visual and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong working knowledge of REVIT and experience with BIM preferred;
  • All applicants must have current authorization to work within the United States

Headquartered in Somerville, MA with offices in Toronto, Jerusalem, Singapore and Shanghai to support ongoing projects, Safdie Architects is constantly engaged in the design of a diverse range of projects in terms of building type, scale and geographic location. Current work in design and construction includes the National Medal of Honor Museum in South Carolina; a residential tower in Manhattan; medical education and research facilities in Sao Paulo, Brazil; a hospital in Cartagena, Colombia; and mixed-use developments in Saudi Arabia, China and Singapore.
