We have an opportunity for a Project Manager within our San Francisco Higher Education Studio. We promote designs that are innovative, inherently sustainable and ultimately exceed our clients’ goals.  Candidates must be proactive, motivated, and experienced in working directly with clients.

Working with us, you will:

  • Provide leadership and project management expertise with overall responsibility for client satisfaction, service quality and financial performance.

  • Serve as primary contact with client, external consultants, and within project team.

  • Ensure design team effectively responds to client goals and priorities

  • Develop design schedules and fee proposals

  • Confirm fulfillment of all contractual requirements for professional services.

  • Review performance, coach and mentor individual team members.

  • Actively pursue opportunities for professional development.

  • Maintain a high profile in relevant professional organizations to promote the firm.

  • Spearhead exploration and development of unique design concepts and strategies.

We are looking for:

  • 7+ years of progressive project management experience, preferably in Higher Education or Science & Technology.

  • Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.

  • Licensed Architect.

  • Experience in Type I or Type II Construction required.

  • Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills with the ability to build quick rapport with all levels of employees, clients and consultants.

  • Proven ability in problem identification, problem solving and conflict resolution.

  • Demonstrated expertise in MS Project, Deltek Vision, Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, InDesign and Photoshop preferred.

  • LEED AP preferred.

  • Demonstrated commitment to design.

  • Strong multi-tasking skills.

    Smithgroup offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefit package, including 401(k) and continuing educational reimbursement. We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, and pay for 8 federal holidays. We also offer an alternative work schedule that provides employees with an additional 15 days off per year (usually Fridays) to help with work/life balance.
