To that end, we are actively pursuing a Human Resources Manager to lead the effort to support our team as we grow. This position will partner with our management team to develop and execute HR strategies and programs.

Responsibilities include:

Talent Acquisition

  • Manage all job openings under the direction of the Director of HR. Tasks include:
    • Updating, posting, and removing job listings
  • Review and process all employment inquiries by following up from initial application to final decision. Tasks include:
    • Tracking applicants and scheduling interviews with the appropriate team member
    • Performing first-round phone screens for junior-level applicants
    • Meeting regularly with Studio Managers throughout the interview process to gather feedback and make hiring recommendations
  • Schedule internal meetings with Director of HR and Studio Managers to assess hiring needs
  • Draft and send offer letters to all prospective employees
  • Prepare paperwork for immigration support (H-1B, Permanent Residence, I-983, O-1) for international hires and liaise with their respective lawyers
  • Create and manage new employee accounts with Operations and Business Managers
  • Provide Orientation on first day of employment
  • Preview all Office Operational Standards, Office Protocols, and Design Standards

Onboarding

  • Create and manage new employee accounts with Operations and Business Managers

  • Preview all Office Operational Standards, Office Protocols, and Design Standards

Retention & Performance Management

  • Manage talent development, including performance management, training, leadership development, and career progression. Tasks include:
    • Developing, revising, and scheduling biannual reviews for eligible employees
    • Documenting all performance reviews, incident reports, employee feedback, position adjustments, and compensation changes
    • Tracking sponsored conference and seminar attendance and following up to schedule presentations for the office and/or track skill development

Benefits Administration

  • Manage payroll and benefits for employees and serve as a resource for employee inquiries
  • Track employee eligibility dates and execute Benefits Onboarding on anniversary dates
  • Track and manage PTO for all staff

Community & Culture

  • Work with management to improve the overall employee experience
  • Plan office social events including holiday parties, quarterly outings, happy hour with the assistance of the Office Administrator
  • Plan and organize the office social calendar including employee birthdays, anniversaries, and professional milestones
  • Manage and develop employee recognition program

HR Services

  • Manage and maintain office HR and Design training systems
  • Manage and endeavor to resolve employee relations issues and conflicts; including written documentation of all reported issues or concerns
  • Manage and oversee compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies, including NYSDOL, USDOL, OSHA, AIA, NYSDPS, USCIS, etc.
  • Independently perform research and attend webinars and/or conferences as needed to stay up-to-date on HR regulations

Business Support

  • Manage HR budget under the direction of the Director of HR
  • Create, review, and update HR procedures including, but not limited to, the following:
    • Welcome package, HR onboarding checklist, and onboarding protocol
    • Exit questionnaire, HR exit checklist, and exit protocol
    • Email templates for PTO requests, supplies requests, etc.
  • Review and update Job Descriptions and Employee Handbook
  • Review and assess all HR services and software

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated achievement recruiting, hiring, and building a scalable culture
  • Understanding of various employment laws and their impact on HR matters, specifically compliance with local, state, and federal law
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Advanced/Expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word

Experience in human resources within the A&E industry preferred. The ideal candidate is passionate about talent and wants to lead the growth and cultivation of internal talent, is a problem solver, and is naturally inclined to help others.

Salary/Benefits:

$45,000-$55,000 DOE. Workshop/APD offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes, but is not limited to, health insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurances, a 401(k) retirement plan, commuter benefits, and paid time off.
