Senior Project Architect – licensed architect with 10 or more years of experience. Responsible to provide technical leadership and documentation coordination including development of design drawings, technical documentation and leading project team assignments for projects which may be multiple, large or complex in scope. Naturally possesses a commitment to design excellence, user experience, material health, social purpose and sustainability. The Project Architect is ultimately responsible for the finished plans, specifications and approval of materials and construction on projects.

Essential Functions

• Licensed Architect with major project responsibility under minimal supervision.

• Act independently to direct and coordinate the production of schematic, design development and construction documents in collaboration with the Project Manager.

• Responsible for planning, development, and management of construction documents and the execution of technical documentation which may include interpreting, organizing and executing project team assignments.

• Responsible for construction administration duties, such as site visits, RFI responses, submittals and punch list reviews.

• Provide leadership for team and client meetings.

• Responsible to establish and follow budget, task schedule, and other components of the work plan with Project Manager.

• Responsible to monitor billing efficiency rates and work at maximizing team’s quality and efficiency in assigned tasks.

• Proactively coordinate with clients, project team, consultants and contractors to ensure trust and confidence.

• Responsible for direct oversight of project associates, technicians and interns.

• Follow trends in Healthcare Architecture to use the utmost caliber of sophistication in the area of technology and operational functions.

• Contribute innovative design ideas that consistently capture the intended design vision.

• Involve explorations of subject area, definition of scope, selection of items for investigation and development of novel concepts and methods.

• Incorporate purposeful design to reflect the underlying “story” of the project, including consistent design flow throughout the whole building project. 

• Regularly contribute bold and brave design sensibilities for scale, balance and design elements that fit the space for maximum impact on user experience.

• May participate in marketing efforts and lead presentations to prospective clients.


• Architectural License required.

• LEED AP and experience in sustainable design strongly encouraged. 

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred.

• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suites, preferred but not required (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design).

• Proficiency with Sketch Up or Rhino preferred but not required (Lumion and V-Ray for Sketch up is a plus).

• Strong working knowledge of zoning and building codes, specifications, building /engineering systems and agency requirements (NPFA, ADAAG, FGI, OBC, IBC, etc).

• A high caliber blend of both design and technical skills.

• Advanced knowledge in the design process, construction documentation and construction administration.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to meet scheduled deadlines and work within a client’s budget.

• Excellent organizational skills and client presentation skills.

• Passion for providing exceptional client service.

• Collaborative and professional work ethic.

Certification Requirements

• Architectural License required (Ohio license preferred, NCARB certificate preferred).

Supervisory Requirements

• Experience in directing, mentoring and coordinating two (2) or more project associates and interns.
