Part-time (Mostly Virtual) Assistant with Strong Copywriting Skills

The CTBUH New York Chapter disseminates best practice information on tall buildings and sustainable urban environments, to facilitate exchange amongst the international tall buildings and built environment community, and makes the latest knowledge available to professionals in a useful form. This is achieved by conducting periodic seminars and symposiums, to cooperate with local organizations, businesses, governmental agencies, and academic programs in allied field, and to promote the public understanding of sustainable vertical urbanism. The CTBUH New York Chapter also supports charitable, educational, and scientific purposes and facilitates mentorship for its Young Professional Committee.

Our chapter is looking for assistance with chapter-related tasks described below. We are looking for an organized, professional person to hire part-time. Most of the tasks can be done remotely, but we need assistance with our events that occur approximately once per month throughout the calendar year.


  • Draft social media plan monthly for pre-approval

  • Issue & execute social media posts on a 1x week basis.

  • Coordinate with HQ’s social media and events calendar

  • Data management: review email list for new additions & assign to groups, update email list with last eventbrite roster

  • Light bookkeeping: record expenses & income per event, quickbooks knowledge preferred but not necessary

  • Email management: review email account and provide responses accordingly to audience requests

  • Available for occasional conference calls around 12-2pm est for event coordinating with colleagues about 1x month

  • Copywriting: draft 500-750 word event summaries according to strict format for consistency, take material from notes and pictures as supplied, or when at events

Event-related Tasks:

  • Project management: work with colleagues to help manage developing monthly event coordination in accordance to scheduled micro-deadlines for successful completion, confirm venues, order food and drinks

  • Set up Eventbrite with copy, bios, headshots from event manager

  • Research stock image for event banner and adjust resolution to web/mailchimp, layer picture with branding according to CTBUH’s format

  • Research logos, adjust to web requirements for eventbrite/mailchimp

  • Write copy & set up mailchimp invitation email with template

  • Assist with preparing powerpoint presentations, incorporating content from multiple colleagues.

  • Update presentations with new information approx 1-2 per year

Typical Event Coordination Schedule & Tasks

Approximately 4-8 hours per week. Leading up to an event, a systematic procedure we’ve developed custom to our organization can help understand what we expect here
