SPF:a is an award-winning architectural firm based in Los Angeles. We are currently looking for looking for an experienced designer or project manager to join our growing team as an associate/design director.

This position works closely with several internal and external parties, including the firm’s creative directors to ensure every project’s design intent comes to fruition; clients, sub-consultants, and contractors; as well as accounting to confirm project invoicing is accurate and up-to-date.

Applicants should be interested in producing the highest quality of designs and documents, and be excited about communicating these ideas both visually and verbally.

//Desired Skills + Experience

  • 7-10 years of experience.
  • The ability to multi-task and handle several projects at once.
  • Outstanding communication skills. As the primary contact for clients, sub-consultants, and contractors, you must be comfortable representing SPF:a during on-site construction administration meetings, and coordinating the flow of RFI's.
  • Experience producing top-notch visually communicative presentations. You should be able to manage presentations and flawlessly communicate their ideas to clients and stakeholders.
  • Able to interpret simple sketches created by the firm’s design principal and turn them into robust designs that can be presented to clients and public agencies.
  • Able to run a project from start to finish—sketches to punch list.
  • Extensive knowledge of AutoCad, Revit, Rhino, Photoshop, and Illustrator is required. That being said, we care as much about creativity as much as we do about technical skill. You should know how to put buildings together and understand the dedication it takes to do it well.
  • Loyalty to the profession. If you are seeking a corporate structure and environment, please do not apply.

We have a great passion for design and recognize that this entails a commitment of time and energy--we look for individuals who share this ethos. As a mid-sized studio our team needs to be adaptable, flexible, and proactive in the way they work. We seek those who recognize that these responsibilities bring wonderful opportunities for personal and professional development.

//Benefits

Competitive pay, benefits (health, vision, dental), and the time to do work right. Possible Principal track for the right person.
