Position Overview: SVA Interior Design is seeking an Interior Designer or Architect specializing in Interior Architecture and Interior Design to join our award-winning faculty. The position posting is for one Undergraduate 2nd Year Course, Interior Materials and Finishes, Fall 2018. The course spans 1 semester and meets three (3) hours per session for fifteen (15) sessions.

Instructor - Interior Materials and Finishes

Fall 2018 semester: 3 studio credits Posted for Fall 2018, Interior Materials and Finishes will present a broad study of materials and finishes that define our interior environment. The specification, composition, manufacturing processes, construction and application/usability of materials and finishes will be covered. The course provides a foundation for students to understand, identify, select, specify and apply materials for interiors. Lectures, demonstrations, projects and field trips promote the development of design ideas related to materials with an emphasis on sustainable materials and finishes


  • B.F.A. or M.F.A. or its equivalent in interior design, architecture or a related field
  • College-level teaching experience
  • NCIDQ certification or its equivalent
  • LEED certification or its equivalent
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM and Adobe applications 
  • Familiarity with drafting construction documents
  • Experience with the selection of furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E)

The mission of the School of Visual Arts BFA Interior Design is to educate the next generation of interior designers with special emphasis on the conceptual, creative and design leadership aspects of the interior design profession over routine practice.
