General Description:

Matthei & Colin Associates is a mid-size Architecture, Planning & Interior Design firm located in downtown Chicago, specializing in healthcare facilities.  We are currently seeking a BD/Marketing professional who will work candidly with Principals to generate marketing proposals and supplemental marketing materials, coordinate with consultants, maintain internal and external marketing resources, maintain social media channels, and assist with presentations and interview preparation.  Candidate should exhibit a strong base in Marketing and motivation to expand into a Business Development role by seeking opportunities for new client relationships. Individual must be a self-starter with the ability to interact with and organize the efforts of the Principals.   

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Coordinate firm-wide marketing activities and facilitate communications and flow of marketing information.
  • Oversee written and graphic content and quality of external communications.  Assemble written text from appropriate sources, work with firm Principals and Project Leaders to write or edit specific project approach and other related proposal information.  Proof-read and edit all written material in these communications.
  • Assist in the strategy and lead in the preparation of written proposals and graphic interview materials.  Coordinate supporting efforts of consultant firms and proposal team members.
  • Maintain database of project leads, opportunities, contacts, and upcoming projects.
  • Maintain and update general firm marketing materials (brochures, web site, social media, photography, archives, project data, etc.).
  • Learn, internalize and help the firm evolve and promote our established brand identity.  Ensure all internal and external communication is brand appropriate.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in the marketplace and profession, regionally and nationally.  Emphasis on finding quality projects for the firm.
  • Participate in research and screening project opportunities to assure clients and project pursuits are consistent with the firm’s values and vision.
  • Assist with website and social media assessment, enrichment, and content development.
  • Compose press releases and ghost write articles.
  • Assist in preparing award submissions.
  • Work with Principals to grow with us and develop a broader client base.
  • Participation in developing the practice through acquisition of new clients including but not limited to extending existing relationships with referral sources, consultants and other decision-makers.
  • Systematically making new networks aware of M&CA healthcare capabilities and continued contact with them.
  • Continuously seek to expand and define potential client relationships.

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English or a related field.
  • Three to five years of business marketing experience in the A/E/C industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency or understanding of relational databases (e.g. Deltek Vision CRM)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, providing ability to communicate and work comfortably with people at all levels within and outside the firm.
  • Outstanding creative writing and editing skills; capable of organizing information and materials for clear and concise presentation and communication.
  • High-level of graphic sensibility and judgment; ability to live and promote the M&CA brand.
  • Well organized; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, while working with firm Principals, often under tight deadlines.
  • Interest in optimizing the value and reach of the firm website and social media as mechanisms for business development, public relations, and the M&CA culture.
  • Ability to think creatively, strategically and tactically, and to help broaden our exposure and value in the healthcare marketplace.
