JOB SUMMARY:  To plan, design and produce detailed architectural/engineering delineations conducive to the renovation or new construction of all physical plants and grounds under the ownership of the Board of Education or to manage procurement of architectural and engineering services for such projects. Also to direct the planning and construction of schools and other facilities owned by the Kanawha County Board of Education. The Executive Director is required to prepare detailed cost estimates of all projects and to make recommendations for the efficient use of facilities and funding available for projects.


  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
  • NCARB registration as a licensed architect.
  • Minimum of six years practical experience in an Architect's Office.
  • Four years practical experience in project development and management.
  • Experience in managing municipal projects, meeting deadlines, developing goal strategies and providing construction estimates and schedules.
  • Four years’ experience in program development and school facilities planning.
