Cheung Showman Architects is a small (currently 5-person) architecture firm founded by Esther Cheung and George Showman in 2014.  We are looking to hire a full-time team member with 0 to 2 years' work experience to join our Dumbo office, starting immediately, as Junior Project Manager.

Our Project Managers are the core of our team -- because our projects are mostly small and mid-size, they also cover the role of 'junior/intermediate architect'.  As Junior Project Manager, you will be in training to become a Project Manager within approximately 1 year.  During the training period we will ask you to support our current Project Managers in their work.  You will likely be working on many projects over a fairly short time period, shifting from one to the other as needed.  In this way you will gain experience in all phases of architectural work: surveying, schematic design, modeling and rendering, product research, drafting for filing and construction documents, and construction administration.

Within the first year, and potentially much earlier (as project load allows), we will assign you one or more small projects of your own to manage, so that you may also begin to coordinate with clients, consultants, suppliers, and contractors, and have the chance to see one or more entire projects from beginning to end.

A short list of qualities a successful candidate should have:
1. Be self-motivated and ready to take on significant responsibility.
2. Be organized and rigorous.
3. Have excellent digital skills, starting with fluency in Rhino and AutoCAD.
4. Have a well-developed aesthetic sense, and an appetite for great design.
5. Be honest, adaptable, and have an open mind to new ideas.
6. Have an accredited B.Arch or M.Arch degree.

We are committed to providing a creative and supportive environment for working and learning.  We expose our staff to all aspects of the profession, including plenty of construction site time.  We offer reasonable hours and fair compensation.  We also value staff input to shape our way of working and the ongoing development of our firm.

Email all applications to George Showman and Esther Cheung at  Please include two PDFs if at all possible:

  1. a resume
  2. a work sample or portfolio (or provide link in your email).
