REX is seeking it’s first Studio Manager (a newly created role) to work in close partnership with REX’s Managing Director in New York City.

The Studio Manager will be an exceptional individual whose core responsibility is to cultivate and maintain an ideal studio environment to serve, support, and inspire the REX team. This will be done through keen attention to facilities, operations, and culture.

REQUIREMENTS

Facilities / Digital: Ensure daily upkeep and long term maintenance of REX’s core technological equipment which includes 30 work stations (PC/windows) and a VR station. The studio manager scope does NOT include heavy ‘hands on’ IT support; instead, the studio manager will be the main point of contact with REX’s external IT and Telecom Vendors to ensure repairs/updates and upgrades are handled efficiently and expeditiously.

Facilities / Physical:The Studio Manager will be fully responsible for efficiently running the day to day operations of REX’s comprehensive model shop, supply room, conference rooms, printers/plotter, material archive and off-site storage facilities. This includes but is not limited to the following: general organizational maintenance to ensure supplies are in stock and easily accessible; troubleshooting basic repairs in the model shop or acting as the main point of contact when external tech support is needed; and researching and equipping the studio with the most cutting edge tools to support the designers in the execution of physical models.

The individual will be the first point of contact for all office renovations, repairs, and improvements.

The individual hired will take extreme pride in our facilities (both digital and physical) to make sure they are well cared for on a daily basis. We invite this hire to truly “own” the physical space and make it an exceptional space to work within.

Operations: The Studio Manager will work directly with REX’s Managing Director to onboard new hires, coordinate with all required REX vendors, and assist in key operations tasks or special projects as requested by the MD. The individual’s work will include managing a low-volume of incoming phone calls, mail/package distribution, lunch orders and conference room setup for client and in-house meetings, as well as low volume client services.

Culture: The Studio Manager will work with the MD and staff to develop amenities and programming that supports the wellness and growth of the studio. This work includes but is not limited to developing and coordinating bi-annual “REXpeditions” to domestic cultural and architectural events; coordinating a guest speaker series for the studio, managing staff birthday celebrations, and general office event planning such as studio lunches, happy hours, studio tours, as well as our annual REXmas holiday party.

This position is for someone who can “roll up their sleeves” and handle a multitude of tasks, both large and small. It is the perfect fit for a highly motivated and organized individual who wants to be involved in a boutique firm where s/he can have a large impact with extended room for growth.

Requirements:

-Candidates are required to have a minimum of 2 years administration experience in art, architecture or design/build fields.

-Bachelor’s degree

-Strong verbal communication skills

-Proficient in and knowledge of art handling as it relates to architectural models (wrapping/crating/boxing), boards and large scale graphics

-Proficiency in Microsoft office and G Suite

-Hands-on attitude for office equipment maintenance (printers, plotters, laser cutters)

-Excellent organizational and time-management skills
