Jennifer Miller Studio Inc. is looking for a part time Design Assistant to join our team to work in all aspects of the business.  The position of Design Assistant will offer a developing interior designer valuable in depth, hands-on experience within the industry.  This position is flexible in terms of scheduling. To start, optimal schedule would be either 2-3 full days per week or 4 half days per week. We are looking for someone who wants to grow from within, graduating to a full-time position. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary role of Design Assistant is to assist the lead designer during the design process by gathering the required design materials for projects including:

  • Selection of fabric samples, lead time, pricing
  • Selection of furniture options, lead time, pricing
  • Paint and finish options, putting together paint schemes
  • Sketches for custom furniture, pillows, accessories
  • Compose mood boards and inspiration images pertaining to projects
  • Draft elevations and floor plans
  • Maintain the fabric library, return samples to design center when needed
  • Research new products and materials
  • Prepare for client meetings
  • Gather and pack materials and organize meeting agenda
  • Write specifications and orders of furnishing 
  • Follow up on orders placed with lead times
  • Create Budgets, schedules and specifications
  • Type meeting notes, create project binders and update as projects progress
  • Assist with installations, coordinate deliveries and handle post installation follow up

SKILLS:

  • Degree in Interior Design or Working on completing Interior Design or Architecture Degree
  • Minimum of 2 years interior design industry experience
  • Excellent presentation skills, including space planning and drawing
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT
  • Knowledge of Studio Designer or Design Manager
  • Ability to create Excel spreadsheets and Power Point Presentations
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, In Design and Photoshop
  • Knowledge of trade resources and vendors

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Vehicle that can be used for work, auto insurance and a valid driver's license. 

Part-Time: 16 to 24 hours per week

Compensation: $18 to $20
