Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, an industry leading, design-oriented architectural firm with numerous offices globally, is seeking experienced Project Managers for our New York office to work on projects in China and Asia.

 

This is a leadership position that will require significant experience with large scale, high-rise, commercial, residential and hospitality projects in China.  Extensive knowledge of the planning and design of such projects, as well as the design and construction of international caliber, custom exterior walls and high-quality public interior space finishes is also a requirement.  Additionally, experience with Chinese construction practices and local code requirements is a plus. Proficiency at managing the architectural design team, as well as the engineering and consultant team, during all phases of the work, from early design through construction is also essential. 

 

Candidates for this position shall need to have, at a minimum, a Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited university, or its equivalent.  Candidates shall also need to have a minimum of 7 years’ experience of actively working in an architectural office engaged in projects of a similar nature to those of KPF.

 

The position will involve the following:

  • Ensuring that KPF’s services to the client and project team, as well as the fulfillment of all project deliverables, are met in accordance with KPF’s professional standards.

  • Leading the project communication and coordination with the client, local architect, and international engineering team as part of KPF’s role as the Design Architect.

  • Close collaboration with and reporting regularly to KPF Principals regarding project work and progress.

  • Collaborating with KPF’s Senior Designers and Technical Coordinators as part of the project team leadership.

  • Regular communication with and coordination of KPF’s project teams in both our NY and Asian offices.

  • Directing staff work assignments and monitoring project team performance.

  • Preparing project budgets and being responsible for monitoring the financial performance of the project.

  • Developing project schedules and monitoring the project team’s compliance with such schedules.

  • Participation in regular teleconference presentations and coordination meetings during Asian business hours, as well as the ability to periodically travel internationally.

  • Working with KPF’s Principals and legal team to draft proposals for new business pursuits and the subsequent drafting of contracts for services.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is a necessity.  Additional proficiency in InDesign, AutoCAD and Revit is a plus.

  • Fluency in English is a requirement, as is the ability to speak and make presentations in front of large project team groups.  Proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) is a plus.
