SPACE Architects + Planners is seeking an experienced Interior Designer with strong proficiency in conceptual design, space planning, design development, material selection, and construction documentation of custom homes, multi-unit residential projects and hospitality.  This is a unique opportunity for a qualified candidate to join our project team and contribute to the design and delivery of significant projects for a variety of clients.

  • Design creative interior environments that support our client needs
  • Collaborate in a team environment to development and enhance design solutions
  • Produce conceptual documents and presentations for clients
  • Produce interior design construction documents (CAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
  • Select materials, furniture and equipment
  • Collaborate with architects
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants and vendors
  • Participate in client presentations, as part of a team and independently
  • Research and recommend products and systems that support the overall design intent 
  • Positive, out-going, energetic and fun team player
  • 5+ years of professional experience in workplace interior design
  • Local candidate
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited university
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Self-motivated, client focused, and detail orientated
  • Ability to prioritize and work collaboratively on multiple projects at once
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in 3D visualization skills is a plus (Sketch-Up, 3ds Max, Adobe Creative Suite)

We are a fresh, experienced firm in the Logan Square area of Chicago.  Some areas of specialization include residential architecture, large multi-unit projects, single family homes, condominium conversions, as well as a variety of commercial projects (retail, office, restaurants and hospitality).

We are looking for a candidate that will be involved in all stages of the project, from initial client interaction through to preparing permit / construction drawings and construction administration.  Team, time and task management skills are a must.  AutoCAD proficiency, great communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for design are all required.
