Mission & Overview (Summary)

The Show/Set Designer role is a CAD-based draftsperson that needs to be proficient in AutoCAD, and have a basic understanding of design. Have a basic understanding of facility, facility integration, and facility impact. This individual needs to be able to read plans, sections, elevations, and details in a drawing package. They must be able to accept and integrate feedback.

Functions & Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Designers with various project needs and administrative tasks.
  • Work with Senior Designers to develop FF&E (furniture, fixtures & equipment) proposals.
  • Coordinate with vendors and materials suppliers to obtain quotes.
  • Assist Senior Designers and Construction Project Managers with placing FF&E orders.
  • Follow up on order status and delivery coordination for FF&E items.
  • Order product samples; obtain pricing and lead-time information.
  • Organize and maintain the resource library and FF&E digital catalog.
  • Participate in monthly design meetings with senior management and project managers.
  • Collect, file, and archive architectural drawings, design drawings, FF&E and other project documentation.
  • Assist Senior Designers with the creation of SketchUp models and renderings.
  • Visit potential remodel job sites to establish due diligence and field documentation.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Perform interior design assignments that include programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning and construction documentation.

Knowledge & Skills (Minimum Requirements)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, SketchUp.
  • Strong skill level in AutoCAD. Revit is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Adaptable to change, willingness to learn, and a desire to accept new challenges.
  • Need to be motivated, self-starters who are not afraid to take on new tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards in CAD production, package development, standards maintenance, show/set requirements, and
  • technical drafting.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and graphic.
  • Experience with the variety of software applications utilized by the staff for production and presentation, specifically extensive
  • experience with Auto CAD and Sketchup.
  • Good time management and prioritization skills.
  • Understanding of the American Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Basic knowledge of Revit

Education & Experience

  • 3-5 years of industry or industry-related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in interior design or Interior architecture.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and Sketchup.
  • Revit experience is a plus.
  • Interest and experience in theme design, commercial design, and/or hospitality design.

Additional Responsibilities

As a member of the Thinkwell Group, you may be asked to participate in the ongoing development of the department. This participation may include:

  • Representation of Thinkwell Group at "industry" functions and conventions, including serving on convention panels or as a speaker;
  • Representation of Thinkwell Group as a competitor in design competitions;
  • Investigation and development of new technologies (or new applications of existing technologies) for use in Thinkwell projects;
  • Participation in the creation of "department-specific" marketing material as required;
  • Participation in the implementation and management of Thinkwell intern and educational outreach programs.
