Grossmueller’s Design Consultants, Inc, an award-winning residential remodeling and interior design firm in NW Washington, DC is seeking a full time draftsperson / designer. The successful candidate will have experience with drafting residential design, remodeling and knowledge of construction practices.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with field measurements with the goal to be self directed
  • Create as-built drawings of existing residential interiors and exteriors
  • Produce preliminary layouts, concept plans, sketches and detailed design drawings with appropriate levels of detail consistent with company and industry standards and codes
  • Prepare construction drawings, sheet sets, plats, application documents and respond to questions and comments in support of obtaining construction permits. Coordinate with structural engineers, surveyors and other consultants to ensure completeness of permit drawing set information.
  • Work closely with other designers to ensure coordinated and cohesive designs
  • Follow, maintain and update company CAD standards
  • Maintain organized files to track revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information in a logical and well structured manner
  • Assist in soliciting subcontractor quotes and preparing construction estimates
  • Complete drawing/project responsibilities within scope, budget and schedule
  • Independently review drawings for completeness and accuracy
  • Coordinate submission for permits with Structural engineer
  • Upload and or prepare permit drawings for submission to MD, DC, VA
  • Respond to permit reviewers comments

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years drafting and/or design experience
  • Technical degree or certificate from an accredited designer/drafter program —architectural background preferred
  • A thorough knowledge of AutoCAD LT 2017 or higher including layer organization, layer states, drawing scales, formatting text, dimensions & tables, page setup, plot styles &pen tables, blocks, schedules, specifications; importing images, OLE objects and text. Troubleshooting CAD and IT issues.
  • A working knowledge of Sketchup; capable of producing professional models and renderings for presenting to clients
  • Familiarity with residential and structural design codes
  • Experience in kitchen, bathroom and interior design a plus.
  • Ability to interact and correspond with clients, contractors and suppliers in a professional manner is essential.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize project tasks on a daily basis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Photoshop also a plus
