The Role…

We are seeking an architect versed in site planning and national building codes/regulations who has previously worked in hotel development and/or on multi-family projects. This professional will join our talented upscale Cambria Hotels development/brand team in making an immediate contribution to one of Choice Hotels’ highest visibility corporate objectives.

In this role, you will support the design and construction of hotel projects across the United States and Canada by executing against two primary disciplines related to hotel construction; new hotel site plan management and new product construction management. This role also serves as the liaison between the Cambria Hotels franchisees, external consulting firms, general contractors and the Cambria brand team managing costs, deadlines, and brand standards throughout the design/construction process.

What you will do…

Site Planning Management:

  • Responsible for managing the architectural site planning process to support franchise sales and development team while leveraging individual site planning expertise as well as external consultants (who can deliver against the brands position).
  • Responsible for delivering architectural site plans in house to franchise sales team as required.
  • Supply the sales team with the appropriate process for internal and external site planning while maintain the appropriate service levels with respect to cost and quality.

Architectural and Product Design Management:          

  • Responsible for assisting in architectural project reviews, including review of preliminary and final architectural plan submittals and construction specifications. Responsible for managing against the 30%, 60%, 90% and 100% project submissions.
  • Reviews specifications for custom design packages submitted by franchisees and bring recommendations to Cambria Hotels & Suites brand management.
  • Provides support to Director of Architecture and Interior Design regarding rules and regulations interpretations and prototype design adaption while advancing the use of prototype designs

Construction Management:

  • Support the construction management process as directed by the Director of Architecture and Interior Design

Who you will be…

  • An architectural degree from an accredited university, professional degree preferred.  
  • 4-6 years of professional, hospitality and/or multi-family architectural experience – previous site planning/space planning experience preferred – including familiarity with national building codes and regulations.
  • Must also have a construction background, with project specific project management experience, including the ability to successfully manage multiple stakeholders and external consultants in a positive manner.
  • The ability to direct an architectural site planning program.
  • Possess exceptional organizational skills and superior oral and written communication abilities.
  • Comfortable delivering high quality messages in group settings.
  • Participatory, taking a team approach in all aspects of project management, including over a potentially wide range of consultants, corporate clients and licensees is necessary.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (V2016) and Microsoft Office Suite are required - Google Sketch Up and Adobe Creative are a plus.
  • Some nationwide travel may be required (15-20%).
