The Dallas office of SmithGroupJJR is currently accepting applications for a Healthcare Planner that is committed to design excellence, thrives in an environment of collaboration, and who demonstrates a high degree of creativity.

Working with us, you will:

  • Under the direction of a senior planner, lead medical planning efforts for healthcare projects and work with the project team in the development of projects.
  • Work with clients in program development, CON preparation, master planning and facility studies
  • Represent SmithGroupJJR in planning workshops and client/user interviews with user groups;
  • Translate programs into space plans. Provide room and departmental layouts and assist in the selection of building system
  • Work with the design and planning lead to develop and detail building systems and components, beginning in schematic design through construction documents. Contribute to the schematic design of projects and be responsible for functional aspects of the proposed solutions;
  • Collaborate and coordinate with designers, project architects specialty consultants and engineers in the production of drawings and specifications.
  • Participate in health care business development efforts, contributing to the preparation of proposals and participating in interviews for projects

An ideal candidate:

  • A degree in Architecture and a minimum 7 years of architectural experience in the healthcare market.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills and a grasp of the inter-relationships among medical departments;
  • Excellent design ability and the potential to generate a variety of options for the layout of departmental spaces.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Understanding of healthcare codes, guidelines and regulations.
  • A strong interest in the healthcare market and healthcare planning trends.
  • Proficiency in Revit

SmithGroupJJR offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefit package, including 401(k) and continuing educational reimbursement. We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, and pay for 8 federal holidays. We also offer an alternative work schedule that provides employees with an additional 15 days off per year (usually Fridays) to help with work/life balance.
