Newman Architects, an award-winning architecture, interior design and planning firm with offices in New Haven, CT and Washington, DC, provides design services for colleges and universities, public and private schools, libraries, and mixed use projects.

We seek talented, self-motivated architectural graduates and architects that are design-oriented, independent thinkers, and excellent communicators for our Washington, DC office location.

Applicants should have an undergraduate degree and/or master's degree in architecture from an accredited school of architecture.

Candidates should have the aptitude to perform in a variety of roles, and have a desire to grow with our DC office by taking on responsibilities that will help Newman to build its Washington DC and mid-Atlantic practice.

Staff Architect:

3 - 8 years of experience

- Design ability and interest with strong technical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Excellent written, graphic and oral presentation skills.
- Strong Revit proficiency required.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office programs.
- Graphic design skills with Adobe Suite / InDesign proficiency desired. 
- Construction documents experience. 
- Licensed Architect or on track to achieve licensure.
- Experience and interest in sustainable design. LEED Accreditation a plus.

Preferred experience in project types equivalent to those that form the core of our practice:
- Project experience with MD/DC/VA public school districts and/or independent schools
- Project experience with mid-Atlantic area colleges and universities
- Project experience with public and academic libraries
- Historic preservation and renovation projects
