Martinez+Johnson Architecture, PC a Washington, DC based architectural firm, specializing in the design of cultural and performing arts facilities, are seeking a Junior Project Architect to join our office in a full-time capacity. We are looking for a highly motivated and talented architect with experience collaborating in a team environment. Candidates should have an understanding of the project process, with excellent presentation and communication skills.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Work with Project Manager(s) and project team(s) on all phases of a project from concept design, presentations, design development, and production.
  • Contribute and actively participate in the activities of a design and production team.
  • Deliver high quality presentation, design drawings and construction documents that can be easily interpreted by government agencies and easily utilized by contractors.
  • Apply innovative thinking, balanced with ability to present real-world technical solutions to new design challenges.
  • Work with clients in a manner that leads to satisfaction, great design, and repeat business.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with team and technical consultants.

Job Requirements include:

  • Professional degree in architecture.
  • 2-5 years of experience working in an architecture firm.
  • Familiarity with architectural detailing, current construction standards, and building systems.
  • Understanding of architectural design and related fields.
  • Ability to problem solve both individually and as a part of a project team.
  • Proficiency in use of 2D/3D software, including Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Adobe Creative Suite, and with Microsoft Office is required; skilled at any rendering software and process is a plus.
  • Knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and building codes.
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organizations skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Applicants who have worked at small to medium avant-garde design studios and on medium to large scale projects will receive favorable review. Preservation experience also valuable.
