We currently have a position available in our Dallas, TX office for a Design Quality Control Architect. The Design Quality Control Architect (DQC Architect) is responsible for assisting with managing and performing the daily QC responsibilities of specific projects to ensure the project  documentation is consistent and in accordance with the established minimum standards. The Design Quality Control Architect reports directly to the Vice President of Architecture Process and Planning.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop SD checklist based on HPA approved SD scope
  • Develop DD checklist based on HPA approved DD scope
  • Develop and implement Contract Life Cycle monitoring and reporting process.
  • Monitor project scope to contract at 80% SD, 80% DD & 80% CD. Prepare weekly report for executive leadership of Additional Service potential.
  • Assess SD progress at 80% to determine possible Life Safety or Accessibility issues to be implemented during DD phase
  • Provide Zoning Research concurrent with SD phase
  • Provide Code Research concurrent with SD phase
  • Communicate zoning and code research with designers for implementation in SDs
  • Provide UniFormat (outline) Specifications at 80% DDs
  • Assess SD set at completion for compliance with HPA SD Checklist
  • Present in stand up charrette at Streamline Life Safety, Accessibility, Zoning & Code findings
  • Provide Life Safety and Accessibility preliminary drawings to Production Team
  • Communicate Zoning, Code, Life Safety & Accessibility with Production team for implementation
  • Special project first 90 days – review existing contracts scope to production scope. Prepare report for executive leadership advising Additional Service potential.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
  • Experience in multifamily and mixed-use development
  • 10+ years of industry experience in similar project types
  • Proven track record of preparing conceptual, schematic, design development, construction documents, and other  materials
  • Thorough understanding of design principles and design program
  • Established, thorough knowledge of building materials, construction techniques, building systems selection, related engineering principles, sustainability strategies, building codes, and accessibility
  • Demonstrated practical understanding of the application of software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam and Newforma
  • Experience with CSI specification formats is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office – specifically Word and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to instruct and mentor other team members
  • Effective time management skills and ability to follow-up in a timely manner
  • Excellent clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
  • Positive attitude with high energy
  • Fundamental understanding of multi-discipline practices required to execute small to large scale multifamily projects – from high-rise to mixed-use, as well as luxury to affordable housing
  • Proactive with research and consistent follow-through

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fundamental understanding of hotel/hospitality and assisted living projects
  • Licensed Architect or on the path to licensure
