PSW is looking for a talented individual to be a part of the design team.  We are seeking an industrious self-starter with expertise in architectural design and construction document production. The Project Architect is responsible for coordinating and executing community and building designs, as well as creating construction documents for single-family and multi-family/mixed-use projects. Their previous experience allows them to operate with greater autonomy and less oversight from Project Managers. They will also be able to manage additional employees, work on more complicated projects, and provide guidance to the architectural department on best practices.

This position reports to the Director of Architecture.

Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:       

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor (5 yr.) or Master Degree in Architecture.
  • Architectural license is preferred, but not required. Without license, position title will be Senior Architectural Project Coordinator.
  • 6+ years working in an architectural office, with the following experience:
    • Coordinating site design and knowledge of local zoning codes.
    • Permitting buildings.
    • Coordinating work with consultants. Ability to review structural and civil drawings.
    • Working through design and production of drawings, from schematic design through construction documents, on a variety of building types. Ability to put together a set of CD’s with minimal supervision by others.
    • Exposure to project pro formas and budgets.
    • Working knowledge of IBC and IRC.
    • 2+ years of construction observation. Experience with multi-family and mixed-use construction is preferred. Experience with reviewing submittals and shop drawings.
    • Presenting design work to clients and internal teams in a succinct, clear and professional manner.
    • Software: Expertise in Revit, AutoCAD and Adobe Suite.
  • 2+ years experience in mixed-use and/or multi-family drawing production and construction administration is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Working through design iterations in multiple mediums during Concept and Schematic Design.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with design team, including civil engineering, to find solutions to complicated sites.
  • Performing zoning and building code analysis.
  • Producing construction documents from SD through CD’s.
  • Performing Construction Observation on projects in the field, including submittal reviews.

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time salaried position. At PSW, all employees participate in profit sharing, in combination with a base salary package. We also provide full health benefits as well as retirement savings options.
