Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently in need of a Senior Project Architect for our Los Angeles CA Transportation Architecture location. The primary responsibilities will be to provide oversight of the project team and manage scope, schedule and budget. The architect will orchestrate the development of the project across all disciplines, and direct the activities as technical analysis, programming and design. The type of work includes stations, bridges, open spaces, administrative facilities and other infrastructure associated with transportation. This position will work with transit station design consultants and transit agency clients and architectural designers to develop exceptional concepts while managing productivity against the deadlines and budgets. The project manager will also support marketing proposals, cost estimates, review of contracts and staff evaluations.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Architecture. Master’s degree in Architecture preferred. Other qualifications include: 10+ years experience in transit architecture project management, design, and planning. Proficient in 3D and 2D graphics software (AUTOCAD, Revit, Microstation, Sketch-up, Rhino, Photoshop and Illustrator). Proficiency in hand drawn design and illustration skills a plus. Demonstrated ability to work with the public multiple disciplines and transit agencies. Registered Architect required. LEED certification a plus. Written oral and graphic skills required to present concepts. Must be comfortable communicating with a broad team of multidisciplinary professionals. Must be able to effectively direct a team to develop design concepts and deliverables. Ability to make work progress with intermittent supervision in a fast paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications

Additional work in urban design or transit facilities design a plus.
