HDR is looking for an Architectural Designer to join their team in Lawrenceville, NJ. The primary responsibilities of the Architectural Designer include:  Collaborating on design projects, including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development.  Working with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives. Resolve complex technical and design issues. Assist in managing client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination.  Provide project team coordination for the finished plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction.


Assist project teams in evaluating, selecting and applying architectural techniques, procedures and modifications to architectural construction documents.  Perform architectural assignments with only general instruction from the project team leaders. Work directly with Design Principals and Project Architects to select and recommend procedures. Assist with the production of specifications covering architectural matters and perform code reviews. Assist other project teams as needed, and take responsibility for work in all phases of the architectural process. Participate in the construction administration of projects and review of submittals and finish samples. 

 

Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs by demonstrating a willing attitude and commitment to our “Design Excellence Program” and participate as an active member of our employee-owned culture.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field

2+ years professional or internship experience preparing architectural concepts and design development documents with supporting materials including presentation drawings, technical documents, details and specifications.

 

Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in Revit , Rhino, Sketchup, Adobe Suite, Model making skills (3D printing laser cutting assembly) and familiarity with related tools and processes.

 

Demonstrated graphic presentation skills. Experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel). Desire to pursue growth opportunities and eventually obtain registration

 

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Architecture

Experience in the areas of healthcare, educational, civic, science and research facilities. Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired

Knowledge of Computational Design tools such as Grasshopper, Sefaira, Diva, Ladybug, or other design processes that involve data analytics.
