Hazen and Sawyer seeks a positive, highly motivated, and creative marketing communications professional to work with a team of engineers, scientists and proposal coordinators to develop best-in-class business proposals and presentations. Our ideal candidate will be an energetic self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team environment. They will have five or more years’ experience within the Architecture/Engineering/Construction industry and possess outstanding written, presentation, organization, time management, and communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

Proposal Development 

  • Manage proposals through the opportunity life cycle: from draft RFP release to post-proposal submission 
  • Spearhead Hazen’s proposal processes by presiding over kickoff meetings and storyboards, working closely with pursuit teams 
  • Conceptualize proposals and integrate detailed technical concepts into a cohesive and effective document during development 
  • Facilitate the writing, editing, and tailoring of proposals to produce compliant and compelling content with easy-to-read narratives 
  • Support development of interview presentations and coaching of pursuit team 
  • Manage competing priorities and advance multiple high-value pursuits in different stages of development, concurrently


  • Maintain marketing collateral and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and quality of proposals 
  • Ensure all marketing materials comply with corporate branding guidelines; this includes but is not limited to internal and external communications, proposals, presentations, and promotional materials 
  • Continuously improve the quality of deliverables to keep up with marketing industry trends

Skills and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing/Communications, English, Journalism or related field 
  • Detail oriented, with an eye for design, focused on quality assurance (QA/QC) 
  • Excellent copywriting/editing skills 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite/InDesign software and/or similar marketing software packages 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel 
  • Proficiency in Deltek 
  • Solid understanding of Planning, Engineering and Construction consulting, with prior experience in the A/E/C industry 
  • Experience overseeing the production of complex materials in a deadline-driven environment 
  • Team player with the ability to work well with all types and levels of professionals 
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects; meeting deadlines and working well under pressure.
