We are seeking creative, detail-oriented lighting designers to work directly with principal on institutional, commercial and high-end residential projects. MFLD maintains an intentionally small staff to keep the design approach personal and vibrant for both the client and our employees who are quickly involved in every aspect of the design process.

Typical tasks include collaborating with the principal on conceptual materials, meeting with clients, producing project documents, building mock-ups, performing calculations, providing administrative project management support and carrying out post-construction duties such as on-site programming and focusing. Most projects are within the tri-state metropolitan area allowing all members of the team to access the site frequently.

Candidates must have proficient CAD and/or Revit skills;  illumination calculation (manual/computer) skills; minimum 1 - 3 years experience in Lighting Design, Theatrical Design, Interiors or Architecture firm and a deep, abiding interest in design, the arts, and all things creative. We are also looking for familiarity with illumination engineering basics, general design skills including sketching, visualization, and graphic communication,and the usual Microsoft Office programs. We expect candidates to have knowledge of the architectural design process. Fluency in English is mandatory and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
