J Frankl C Mallea Associates Architects & Engineers (JFA) is a contemporary design firm located in the penthouse floor of 16 Court Street in Downtown Brooklyn. JFA specializes in new construction of Commercial, Residential and Mixed-use buildings. We are currently seeking a full-time Architectural Designer to join our team.


  • The Architectural Designer work in a team while mentoring junior staff, overseeing project design, construction & project administration under the direction of a Studio Director and the Principal.
  • Prepares construction documents including plans, details, sections, elevations, and assists with drawing issuance.
  • Knowledgeable of codes and regulations including ADA, NYC Building Code, NYC Zoning, NYCECC, NYC Plumbing Code, NYC Mechanical Code, Fire Fuel Code, NYC Fire Code.
  • Proficient in reviewing DOB objections and meeting NYC code, the client’s desires, and JFA’s design intent.
  • Excellent drafting skills with attention to detail, and knowledge of AutoCad and Revit.
  • Excellent communication, multitasking, organizational skills, and deadline management.
  • Proficient in Construction Administration and documentation, such as RFIs, ASIs, submittal of drawing reviews, and familiarity with CSI Divisions.
  • JFA encourages employees to pursue NCARB licensure, AIA membership, and LEED certification.


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
  • Proficient in CADD, Revit, InDesign, Photoshop, and 3D computer modeling software.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in an architectural firm.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Experience in Interior Design in addition to Architectural Experience a plus.
