This opportunity based in New York City and reporting to the Vice President of Building Envelope Services, the Intermediate Building Envelope Specialist is responsible for overseeing small to large scale projects while maintaining a high level of quality service for the Building Envelope practice at Entuitive. This entails leveraging technical expertise and working closely with the other service groups in the firm to ensure consistent, consolidated and leading edge service delivery.

ENTUITIVE is seeking to supplement its existing New York team with a self-motivated individual, with leadership skills and a desire to work in a collaborative team environment. Entuitive’s current projects span the repair and restoration of existing buildings and the design and construction of new buildings. Our project portfolio is diverse and exciting - from commercial and residential skyscrapers to hospitals to opera houses to transit infrastructure - across the United States, Canada and internationally. We are passionate about our work and strive to provide our clients with the utmost in service when it comes to quality and timeliness of our product.

At this time we are looking for an individual interested in advancing their career by joining our local New York City team at its beginnings, but supported by a well-established and entrepreneurially company with offices across Canada, and in the United Stated and United Kingdom. 


  • Areas of Service
    • Work independently, or with other building envelope specialists, to meet the needs of our new construction clients, from preliminary design stages, through tender and construction.
    • Work independently, or with other building envelope specialists, to meet the needs of our existing building clients, from the investigation and research phase through to completion of construction phase. This will include the preparation of clear and concise construction documents (specifications and drawings), tender, field review and other contract administrative duties as required.
    • Assist with structural design of light gauge metal, aluminum and glass materials.
    • Maintain and develop client relationships throughout the industry.
  • Typical Project Tasks
    • Assist with research of new products and systems as needed for the servicing of projects.
    • Assist in forensic investigations, through field work and internal research.
    • Complete field review and testing of building envelope systems during the repair, replacement and construction.
    • Review submittals and shop drawings during construction.
    • Write reports subsequent to the above field work and research.
    • Complete drawing and specification review for new construction projects.
    • Work with architects to develop building envelope systems, assemblies and details for new construction projects (deliverables including digital and hand mark-ups, sketches, etc.).
    • Within a project, assist with computer aided modelling analysis of building envelope details and performance using tools such as THERM and WUFI.  Training materials and internal mentoring will be provided but some self-directed learning will be expected.
  • Write papers and prepare building envelope presentations to aid in the growth of a stronger and broader client base.
  • Presenting and co presenting white papers at conferences.


  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in consulting or technical design of building envelopes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in building science, engineering or architecture; or equivalent training.
  • Must have strong technical skills and experience in building envelopes including:  knowledge of codes and standards, specifications, testing, and façade engineering principles.
  • Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel and Bluebeam (or other PDF mark-up tool).
  • Experience in the following programs would be an asset: Therm 6.3, Windows, Rhinoceros, Autocad
  • Experience in the following programs is preferable:  WUFI, HAM, Mepla, Revit, SketchUp, Ladybug &  Honeybee, RFEM
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to manage complex situations with multiple stakeholders.
  • Must be willing to work at heights, including climbing ladders and working on swing stage.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Access to a passport and desire to travel for work is an asset.
