Oppenheim Architecture + Design is seeking a creative, collaborative, and results-oriented Interior Designer with experience in luxury residential architecture to join our Miami office.  This position entails involvement in all phases of the design process – from Concept through Construction Administration. All candidates should possess strong technical and communication abilities to function at the highest level of design sensibility while exuding flexibility when collaborating with other designers in our creative work environment. Experience in managing client relationships, technical detailing, material specifications in addition to excellent presentation skills are required.  The ideal candidate has previous experience managing a team of designers and working directly with all relevant consultants.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Interior aspects of Construction Documents and Specifications, including:
  • FF&E and Specifications;
  • Architectural lighting design and specifications;
  • Interior trim design and details;
  • Schedules: room finish, casework, lighting, and finish carpentry;
  • Specify materials, finishes, and other selections;
  • Coordinate with designers, cabinet shops, electrical suppliers, and other vendors;
  • Work with Project Manager/Architect to create a well-coordinated interior architecture package;
  • Serve as Project Manager on some projects, and work with team on other projects as needed;
  • Ensure deliverables are up to date on internal servers and shared platforms;
  • Maintain notes and photos from job site visits and create follow-up reports;
  • Consider materials and costs according to set budgets and negotiating project fees;
  • Sourcing products, e.g. fittings, furniture, lighting, finishes, decorations and providing samples for clients;
  • Ensure sample library is up to date and tidy
  • Foster strong client relationships

Requirements

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or related field
  • 7+ years of experience
  • Exceptional competency with CAD software in an architectural setting is required. Specific expertise in ArchiCAD would be a plus
  • Expertise in FF&E and specification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications
  • Superb organizational and communication skills
  • Easy-going, but proactive with the ability to handle deadlines under pressure
  • Strong conceptual, graphic and design or technical knowledge
  • Immediate availability is preferred.
