INTENSION design is an design + build firm located in Mid City specializing in residential architecture. Our office is a small collaborative studio environment committed to creating distinctive luxury architecture and full construction of our projects.

We are looking for a talented Project Architect to support planning and design work on a variety of projects. We can provide a genuine opportunity for growth in both a casual and committed work environment.  This position seeks people with the dedication to design meaningful projects from their initial concept through the end of construction.  Key qualifications include demonstrated design, drawing and detailing experience, excellent interpersonal, leadership and presentation skills. Solid foundation using Autocad and Sketch-up is required.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Design, architectural drawing and detailing using Autocad. 
  • Produce 3D model using sketch-up.
  • Study and understand building codes that apply and produce massing models and lots studies. Experience with Hillside Ordinace is a plus.
  • Produce complete Construction Documents.
  • Apply for city permits as required, mostly city of Los Angeles and West Hollywood.
  • Work with City and/or County agencies to resolve code related issues.
  • Lead consultant meetings and design presentations
  • Coordinate architecture and building systems with engineering consultants.
  • Support the Project Manager throughout the project construction phase by answering design RFI's and reviewing shop submittals.
  • Select interior finishes, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, etc.
  • Visit job sites in a regular basis.


  • B-Arch or similar
  • At least 6 years of professional experience
  • Excellent working knowledge/fluency in Autocad for project design and detailing.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to speak confidently in public and lead presentations.
  • Strong team player
  • Understanding of Los Angeles building codes
  • Knowledge of construction materials, standards and details
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Los Angeles area resident
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without need for employee sponsorship.
  • Reliable transportation
