SOM, one of the most influential design firms in the world, is seeking innovative, creative, independent, and critical thinkers who aspire to the highest standards of excellence. Join our collaborative design practice as an Awards Coordinator to lead the Awards program for the San Francisco and Los Angeles offices. The ideal candidate will be an excellent storyteller, capable of handling multiple deadline-driven efforts and who has a high standard for the presentation and preparation of written and graphic materials.

Responsibilities: 
• Maintain master awards calendar for the San Francisco and Los Angeles offices
• Identify awards opportunities for SOM staff and projects 
• Independently manage awards submittals from start to finish and actively lead strategy and planning sessions
• Work with Partners, Directors, designers, project managers and the marketing team to assemble materials, write copy, and design graphic layouts for submissions 
• Track and maintain records of past submissions and winning projects
• Create internal communications to announce successful submissions to SOM staff
• Coordinate with PR & Communications teams regarding promotion of winning work
• Respond to various writing, editing and image requests

Desired skills and expertise:
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in public relations and/or marketing. Communications experience, within a design environment preferred. 
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, communications, architecture, engineering or a related field of study. 
• Proven and exceptional writing skills and experience developing copy.
• Ability to work effectively in an environment with multiple deadlines and stakeholders, executing and prioritizing tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Strong visual and storytelling ability. 
• Excellent problem-solving, multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills. 
• Comfortable in a fast-paced team environment, working with a heightened attention to detail and an emphasis on quality. 
• Strong interpersonal skills and a disposition that is positive and professional. 
• Competency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
