MWA Architects is seeking a talented, self-motivated, and collaborative Project Architect with 7 - 15 years of experience to work in our Portland studio. This position is for our sustainable public infrastructure work and experience designing public facilities in urban areas is preferred. We are looking for a team member who shares our view that public infrastructure is an important civic resource inside and out with no shortage of opportunity for good design. Our studio in Old Town Portland is an open office environment requiring an outgoing personality and strong social skills.


  • Leadership and team coordination
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sustainable building approach development
  • Strong design skills at planning and building levels
  • Materials and methods research
  • Revit – technical skills and ability to execute in the project documents
  • Permitting – jurisdictional research through application and permit tracking
  • Document Production - from design development through construction document phase
  • Construction observation – site visits; weekly conference calls; submittal review; RFI review; ASIs and PRs


  • Bachelor of Architecture or Masters of Architecture
  • Licensed in Oregon and Washington (preferred)
  • 7 -15 years architectural experience
  • Design Skills – prefer experience designing and developing buildings related to urban infrastructure
  • Strong Revit proficiency
  • Passion for Sustainability/ LEED Accreditation/Net Zero experience/Living Building and Petal certifications desired
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Permanent US resident or US citizen
