JOB DESCRIPTION: JOB CAPTAIN

EL Studio PLLC is seeking a critical thinker with exceptional design sensibilities and communication skills to support numerous Architecture and Interior Design initiatives.  The candidate should possess a strong interest and background in design and have a keen interest in detailing and construction. The position and nature of the office environment requires individuals who are flexible, articulate, resourceful, creative and committed.  This position necessitates that the candidate is able to propel project development, anticipating issues and problems, and demonstrating ingenuity in finding solutions.  The candidate should possess superior leadership skills and a strong desire to direct project teams and grow this small, but agile practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

The candidate will work closely with the EL Studio’s Partners to conceptualize, develop and execute scopes of work of various scales.  The candidate should be able to understand and conceptualize interior space as a holistic treatment of the overall architectural language of the building.  The candidate will also be responsible for daily project communication and work flow, coordinating consultant work and assisting in management of junior staff project work.  Tasks may include:

  • Production of documentations for all traditional phases of architectural projects including: Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Outline Specifications, Construction Administration
  • Management of Project Communication including correspondence with clients, consultants and contractors (meeting agendas and minutes, email and telephone correspondence)
  • Coordination of consultant work including document distribution and coordination of engineering drawings and documents with architectural drawings and documents for integration with design intent
  • Assisting in management and production of presentation materials for client meetings and internal reviews  including traditional 2-D architectural drawings in AutoCAD or Revit as well as 3-D study models  in Rhino and attendant tools
  • Assisting in management and production of presentation layout using Adobe Suite
  • Assisting in management and production of Materials Research & Sourcing
  • Assisting in management and production of Material Board Assembly
  • Assisting in management and specification of Furniture, Fixtures, & Equipment (FF&E) selection
  • Design and production of intent drawings for custom designed elements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Professional Masters degree in Architecture  
  • 2 – 4 years of work experience
  • Proficient knowledge of the following computer programs: AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, 3ds MAX,  Sketch Up, Grasshopper, Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; Microsoft Office: Word, and Excel
  • Ability to convey ideas through hand sketching
  • Strong presentation skills

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical capabilities
