Architectural Designer

Full-time

Meshberg Group, an award-winning Interior Design and Architecture firm located in Brooklyn, New York is currently seeking an experienced professional for a Designer I position.

The candidate must have the following:

  • a Bachelors Degree in Architecture 
  • a minimum of 5 years of related work experience (and at least 2 years in one firm) in the United States. Experience in Multi-Family Housing, Hospitality and Commercial design and construction is preferred.

    PLEASE:  NO RECENT GRADUATES

Primary responsibilities for this position include:

  • Assisting with conceptual design, material research, code analysis, preliminary specifications, construction document production, and construction administration.
  • Preparing and developing construction plans, exterior and interior elevations, wall sections, details, and schedules in accordance with the firm’s standards for graphic information.
  • Reviewing RFI’s, shop drawings, submittals and material samples under the direction of the Project Manager.
  • Organizing and managing project documents in accordance with the firm’s standards for documentation.
  • Interacting and communicating effectively with clients, consultants and contractors to ensure coordination and execution of project documents and specifications.
  • Attending and actively participating in a client, project team, and construction meetings.

Proficiency in AutoCAD (2015 or later) and Microsoft Office is required. Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, Bluebeam, and Sketch-Up is a plus.

  • The ability to work both independently and in a team atmosphere with a positive spirit.  The candidate must be a good communicator, especially in the team framework.  Whether it’s on their own or with the team, the candidate should be able to achieve project goals by working efficiently, effectively and within time constraints while keeping an eye on the quality and care put into the effort (collectively and singularly).
  • A friendly, outgoing personality is a plus; this a collegial working environment.
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Working knowledge of ADA/FHA, New York City, and International Building Codes
  • Exceptional technical and graphic representation skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
