Dating back to 1902, AIA Connecticut (AIA CT) is the statewide chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and since 1902, continues to be the professional association for Connecticut architects. Association activities and services include building tours, continuing education programs, presentations by renowned architects, advocacy with State Legislature and agencies, social and networking events, and more.

With the previous executive director stepping down after 19 years, the Board of Directors seeks an engaged executive-level manager who will bring a fresh perspective and innovative approach to a well-respected, well-established organization.

Profile of the Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five years senior leadership or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation is an added benefit.

Key priorities for the executive director include modernizing

communications and marketing strategies to grow membership and expand engagement, serving as AIA CT’s primary advocate and spokesperson on State legislative issues, and navigating the organization’s first leadership transition in almost two decades. While AIA CT’s leader does not need to be an architect or associated with building trades, the next leader must be inspired by design, construction, historic preservation, etc. and committed to and adept at advocating for the profession.
