Architecture Studio Director/Senior Project Manager

The Studio Director is a senior management position in an Architecture and Interior Design Firm, reporting to the Executive Team, responsible for the economic performance, project development process and staff management in a specific area within the firm.

The Studio Director plays a critical role in establishing and maintaining relationships with clients, coordinating with Interior Design Director (“IDD”), Technical Director (“TD”) and the Architectural Design Director (“ADD”), while closely managing the project and the staff to meet the client’s objectives, in a timely fashion.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Business Development -  proposing and directing strategies to expand client base and project profitability.
  • Project Management - Establishes the tenets, boundaries and specific requirements of each project, both conceptually and quantitatively in conjunction with the IDD, ADD, and TD; ensures that all resources and relevant staff input have been gathered and all processes are properly addressed for each phase of project; ensuring sound design and the highest quality standards.
  • Budget Development and Administration - Prepares client proposals, LOAs, schedules., work plans, fee plans, and cost projections for all project phases.  Supervises all staffing needs and controls expenditures.  Monitors invoicing, project completion status and profitability, and client payments, while working closely with the Director of Operations.
  • Team Leader - Provides critical leadership and manages all Architecture and Interior Design personnel as well outside consulting teams, sub-consultants, and contractors.  The Studio Director will collaborate with IDD, ADD, TD and Executive team, ensuring that each project meets the Firm’s standards of excellence.
  • Personal Development & Training -  Manages and trains staff to develop and perform to their optimum potential. Sets and evaluates performance milestones. Makes recommendations for compensation programs that reflect the skills and market value of each member of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional degree required
  • Experience in hospitality required
  • 10+ years experience in architecture/design and managing projects;
  • Extensive experience with client management
  • Proven management ability and excellent communication skills, both spoken and written;
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative achievement with in-house and external teams
