Cooper Robertson seeks an experienced Urban Designer to join our team. Candidate will work closely with partners, directors and senior leadership on multiple urban design projects at various scales.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate creative thinking abilities and contribute to firm-wide design excellence goals
  • Contribute significantly to the design process, working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams of consultants
  • Execute zoning, land use and urban design contextual evaluations to identify development opportunities
  • Prepare master plans for academic, research and other institutional clients
  • Prepare site layouts for residential, educational and mixed use developments
  • Execute design studies of the public realm, parks and open spaces
  • Establish design guidelines for building form, architectural character and site planning
  • Develop presentation graphics, written reports, 2d and 3d analytic and conceptual drawings, digital and physical models
  • Demonstrate reliable understanding of the relationship between design and constructability
  • Participate in the design and construction phases of public realm projects

Requirements:

  • 5+ years progressive and relevant work experience
  • Professional degree required; advanced degree preferred with ideal candidate possessing degrees in architecture as well as planning or urban design. Professional licensure a plus.
  • Experience in master planning of mixed use developments, urban redevelopment and revitalization, campus planning, and transit oriented development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, REVIT/BIM, Adobe Graphics Suite, Geographic Information System (GIS) and other related design software
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Must be proactive and detail-oriented with excellent time management skills
