Design Build company seeks experienced manager to oversee operations and facilities at their subsidiary mill-shop and fabrication studio. The Shop Manager will collaborate closely with Project Managers and Designers, as well as fabrication team and office staff.

We are a rapidly growing company comprised of artists, architects and designers.  The candidate must be creative, adept at implementing new systems, identifying problems and solving them, working quickly and resourcefully.

This is an administrative/hands-on position that involves staff supervision, scheduling, clear written and oral communication, as well as in-depth experience as a woodworker/millworker. The candidate must also have a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and be able to work with/manage all types of people.


  • Track project budgets and overhead costs.
  • Meet regularly with outside Accountant; report to office on projections and actuals.
  • Implement and manage A/R and A/P
  • Oversee and implement safety systems and oversee compliance with safety regulations. Must be OSHA-certified or willing to complete OSHA training course.
  • Devise and maintain project timelines; communicate timelines with fabricators and on-site workers. Implement scheduling software (We use Wrike).
  • Ability to read shop and architectural drawings in AutoCad and Sketchup. Ideal candidate can work comfortably with these programs.     
  • Oversee maintenance of workspace and devise systems of organization for the shop.
  • Implement and maintain quality control system
  • Oversee shipping, delivery, installation, and sign-off through to the end of the production schedule.


  • At least two years’ experience in operations and/or project management
  • At least two years of experience in wood-working, cabinet-making, and/or furniture design
  • Budgeting and ability to track costs of projects and deliver projects on schedule
  • Problem solver, self-reliant, and friendly; willingness to jump in where needed; a team player
