Project Architect

The Project Architect is a creative team leader responsible for the development and coordination of the design drawings, technical documentation and construction administration phase documents.

The Project Architect reports to the Project Manager and Studio Director, and plays a key role in the success of the Design Studio and its ability to establish and maintain a positive relationship with each client, while using best practices to meet the project’s requirements in a timely fashion and in accordance with brand standards.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Drawings and Specifications – managing the design and technical deliverables for various size projects, including the production of construction documents and specifications; developing cartoon (thumbnail) sets for use in production of construction documents; conducting independent quality assurance audits on Studio 1200 drawings for clarity and consistency
  • Coordinating with Consultants – including attending client consultant meetings;
  •  Meeting with industry vendors to learn about new building products and maintaining architectural library
  • Assisting Project Manager and Studio Director – in development of design concepts, presentations and proposals; meeting with clients to establish Program and Budget requirements; conducting due diligence, including surveying and code analysis; Presenting Studio 1200 at industry events and conferences;
  • Providing general support in all project related matters; assisting staff in the use of AutoCAD; contributing to the development of CAD detail library and drawing standards

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in visualization through sketching as part of Studio 1200’s Design Development process and full understanding of basic construction details
  • Professional degree required
  • 5+ years experience in architectural design
  • Proven management ability and excellent communication skills, both spoken and written;
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative achievement with in-house and external teams.
