General Assembly is a Brooklyn based design firm focused on high end residential projects.  

We are currently seeking applications for a Studio Coordinator / Design Assistant.  The ideal candidate is self-motivated and can assist with administrative duties, marketing, scheduling, purchasing, and various projects as they come up.


Design Assistant Duties:

  • Coordinate the ordering of finish samples (including flooring, fabric, tile, stone, etc) 
  • Request pricing and lead times for furniture, lighting and finishes from vendors as required
  • Maintain a vendor library / contact list and research new designers and design sources
  • Coordination of all in-house furniture, lighting, and finish purchases

Administrative duties:

  • Coordinate company marketing efforts, including social media, website updates and press requests
  • Provide support to management (e.g. drafting letters, scheduling appointments, emailing, filing, etc.)
  • Assist in office setup and meeting preparation
  • Organize and maintain library and sample room
  • Assist with image and text preparation for Press requests 


  • Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field preferred
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal with clients and follow professional business etiquette
  • Experience with writing professional letters, creating appointments, and professional email correspondence
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-placed environment
  • Prior marketing experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) is preferred

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
