The design & technical services director (D&TS director) is overall responsible for the design of citizenM hotels in North America and will sign off and validate the design and program in line with brand standards of new hotels and ensure to evolve the brand, safeguard the quality of the product, whilst ensuring citizenM to remain a disruptor in the hospitality industry. 

key responsibilities / main tasks

  • responsible for  the D&TS team consisting of the following 3 disciplines; technical services, concept design and acceptance management.

  • implement and maintain the local D&TS strategy and roll out plan

  • co -create a strategy and clear view on sustainability within citizenM  

  • provide input and manage the north america D&TS budgets

  • supervise, organize, train and evaluate assigned team

  • guide  technical services  and acceptance managers ensuring execution of quality control and on site monitoring of work in progress

  • manage the concept design managers to adhere to all operational requirements and they design efficient layouts

  • responsibele for optimized designs that suppert our guest experience strategy

  • primary contact of interior architect “Concrete Architects” for all design related matters

  • act as a guardian of the brand throughout all stages of a project from inception until the final delivery and acceptance off the hotels.

  • ensure design packages from different citizenM departments (Operations, Food & Beverage, IT and Marketing etc.) are being implemented correctly

  • steer the BIM process and watch over the BIM and technical services manager to make sure the brand standards are being translated, implemented and maintained successfully

  • work closely with the D&I team (development and investment), project management team and operations

  • organise timely and accurate knowledge transfer to all local development partners and internal citizenM departments

  • be the local expert and share market knowledge and feedback with the creative board

qualifications / skills

  • at least 10 years of relevant international work experience

  • a degree in Architecture

  • solid experience with the development of hotels or high-end residential

  • knowledge of 3D CAD proficiency/ BIM and Adobe experience

  • organized and strong time management skills

  • inspirational team leader with bridge building capabilities

  • relationship building skills understand how to manage external parties

  • driven with the ability to implement ideas effectively

  • design change costs and time awareness

  • passionate attitude and strong connection with the citizenM brand

  • fluent in English and preferably a second language

  • global work experience  

  • internationally oriented and willing to travel frequently in US
