SmithGroupJJR is looking for Senior Interior Architect and Designer to join our San Francisco office. We are seeking talented individuals that are committed to design excellence, who thrive in an environment of collaboration and who demonstrate a high degree of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.

Working with us, you will:

  • Lead the Interior Design portions of healthcare projects within the healthcare studio.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other designers, medical planners, project architects and engineers.
  • Prepare concepts and direct interior design through construction documents.
  • Work with healthcare planners to translate programs into space plans.
  • Select interior finishes and furniture in coordination with other team members.
  • May prepare FF&E plans and specifications.
  • Prepare and lead design presentations with clients.
  • Prepare and attend project interviews.
  • Collaborate with business development director and meet with current and potential clients
  • Consult with manufacturers, as well as research and evaluate FF&E materials and products.
  • Assist in construction administration by responding to RFIs, preparing sketches and visiting the construction site to gather information and/or prepare a punch list.

An ideal candidate has:

  • At least 18-20 years of interior design or architectural experience, up to half in the healthcare market.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of healthcare guidelines and regulations.
  • A strong interest in the healthcare market and healthcare trends.
  • Working knowledge of interior design materials, finishes, furniture, and pricing.
  • Some Proficiency in Revit. Candidates without Revit experience will not be considered.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.

SmithGroupJJR offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefit package, including 401(k) and continuing educational reimbursement. We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, and pay for 8 federal holidays. We also offer an alternative work schedule that provides employees with an additional 15 days off per year (usually Fridays) to help with work/life balance.
