About You
You are an experienced designer who thrives working both collaboratively and independently on all phases of projects including: schematic design, consultant coordination, construction documents, and construction administration.

You must be comfortable working for a startup, with limited direction, moving deadlines, and a fast-paced schedule. You are curious but not judgmental, smart but not cocky, eager but not over-confident, self-aware, and a dependable team player.

 Essential Functions:

  • Work closely with our Chief Design Officer and Architectural Lead as a supporting staff member in producing project deliverables.

  • Support the team in all areas of architectural design: presentation, design development, construction documentation, detailing, and site observation.

  • Produce designs, drafting, elevation renderings, 3D and CAD drawings.

  • Help produce and coordinate highly-detailed project drawing sets under the supervision of the project lead,  and maintain project documentation.

  • Consult manufacturers, evaluate and select materials and observe architectural installations in the field.

  • Perform work requiring independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard techniques, and procedures.

  • Responsible for projects' technical design; provides planning/design/coordination consultation.

  • Apply sound and diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices in broad array of assignments.

  • Innovate, where appropriate, in process and design.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of current US/California codes and their application.

  • Suggest use of advanced design and construction techniques.

  • Write/review reports, plans, estimates, and calculations.

 Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. M.Arch preferred from Accredited Institution.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in an architectural office.

  • Ability to produce a complete set of residential or light commercial construction documents.

  • Solid knowledge & experience in SketchUp & AutoCAD & Revit.

  • Knowledge of Google Suite and Apps, Dropbox, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Experience with applicable codes, code research, and permit coordination.

  • Ability to manage and uphold strict drafting and graphic standards.

  • Knowledge of organizational file-sharing standards.

Additional Skills:

  • 3D Modeling & knowledge of BIM

  • You will possess the ability to visualize concepts and explain them to others

  • Ability to handle fast-paced projects and deadlines

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous start up environment

  • Strong work ethic and design sense

  • Able to work individually and as part of a team

  • Field observation experience is preferred.
