Senior Project Designer / Design Manager

 

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist Principals in the research, development and refinement of individual project / conceptual design goals

  • Manage individual project teams to ensure that the highest level of design conceptual clarity, rigor, design and documentation quality is achieved, and to ensure deliverables conform to contractual obligations

  • In coordination with Principals and / or Studio Director lead individual projects, manage client / project goals and direct project teams in execution of daily tasks

  • Assist Principals and coordinate with Studio Director to ensure project schedules, QA/QC and permitting approvals are being met in a timely manner

  • In coordination with Principals and / or Studio Director develop and manage weekly project staffing and scheduling projections and / or reports

  • Participate in weekly Senior Project Staff meetings and follow through on agreed upon action items

  • Assist project accounting staff to review project proposals, invoices and consultant / vendor requests to ensure timely project billing and payments

  • Maintain and foster project team and firm culture and morale

  • Mentor intermediate and junior staff and assist Studio Director / Principal efforts to manage individual professional development

  • Participate in academic, industry and client outreach efforts to increase firm visibility / reputation

  • Participate in talent acquisition and recruitment through academic and industry outreach, work sample review and selective interview / screening of candidates

Essential Skills:

  • Fluent in English, spoken and written (2nd language is an asset)

  • Strong conceptual and design skills

  • Great interpersonal communication skills

  • Client and consultant management skills

  • Technical detailing & construction administration

  • Knowledge of construction methods

  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and budget time effectively

  • Ability to take initiative in response to direction or instruction

  • A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as an Architect / Designer on built and published projects demonstrating a high level of design achievement and clarity

  • Professional degree in Architecture required, with Masters / additional degrees preferred

  • AIA licensure and / or LEED AP accreditation preferred

  • Construction documentation, permitting and construction administration experience in North America required

  • Fluency in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite and Vray / equivalent visualization software

  • Experience working with a leading American or International architecture firms

  • Holds all legal permits and visas required to work in USA
