Intermediate Architectural Designer/Job Captain

 Role and Responsibilities:

  • Generate, evaluate, and apply advanced design methods to project assignments including programming, design development, coordination and production of construction documents

  • Propose and assist in the selection and documentation of architectural finishes

  • Resolve complex technical and design issues

  • Evaluate and integrate engineering systems and implement code, accessibility and programming analysis

  • Lead project structural, mechanical, plumbing and acoustical engineers to ensure an integrated approach and coordinate project requirements

  • Be involved with coordinating contractors, consultants and vendor assignments

  • Participate in marketing efforts, including presentations

  • Lead the process of complex and creative architectural detailing

  • Steward the design intent through technical drawings, specifications and cost estimating efforts and insure adherence to established specifications and design standards

  • Contribute to the preparation of design documents and lead the detailed development of the construction documents with the project designer/project manager

  • Actively collaborates with building and permitting officials during permitting and construction phases of project, submits projects for permit approval

  • Oversee construction administration, including the processing of submittals/substitution requests during construction

  • Identifies issues, risks and conflicts and asks for assistance and/or delegates in a timely and constructive manner when required

  • Oversee project close-out efforts

  • Coordinates with Principals and Studio Directors to implement standard procedures and protocols to assure continuity and consistency of project documentation across the firm

  • Assist and mentor team members as appropriate

  • Proactively update Principals and Studio Directors of work status and seek clarification where appropriate

Skills:

  • Strong conceptual and design skills

  • Ability to facilitate programming efforts, space plan, draft, and put together design presentations as well as construction documents.

  • Requirement: Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Rhino, V-Ray, Office Suite

  • Demonstrates detailed knowledge of code compliance, building standards, policies and procedures and can direct others in the use of those resources

 

Experience and Qualifications:

Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture

  • Minimum 7-10 year of experience working with a leading American or International architecture office

  • Licensed and/or LEED AP are assets

  • Technical knowledge and application of architectural materials related to retail, residential, creative office and/or hospitality projects

  • Holds all legal permits and visas required to work in USA
