We currently have a position available in our Dallas, TX office for a QA/QC Specialist. The Quality Assurance / Quality Control Specialist (QA/QC Specialist) is responsible for assisting with managing and performing the daily QC responsibilities of specific projects to ensure the project  documentation is consistent and in accordance with the established minimum standards. The responsibilities of this role includes direct oversight and review of the entire documentation work flow process and working with other in-house personnel (e.g.: Project Managers, production staff, etc.) and external personnel to produce and document a quality product, focusing on multifamily, mixed-use and hospitality spaces. Architectural, construction, or other related experience is required. The QA/QC Specialist reports directly to VP of Architecture.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Review technical documents for compliance with applicable codes, constructability and risk management  
  • Support development of responses to contractor questions, inquiries, RFI’s, etc.
  • Assist the Production Team and other key personnel in researching and selecting materials, developing project-specific details and preparing and maintaining reports
  • Collaborate with the project team members to ensure information is routed and returned in a timely manner
  • Strive to achieve an internal leadership presence
  • Function as technical resource to assist and mentor staff on technical issues for both project plan and quality control related issues
  • Demonstrate expertise on new materials, code changes and industry trends
  • Proactively evaluate, coordinate and integrate work with other project team members to ensure consistency and accuracy for the Project Team and firm’s success
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system
  • Prepare reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities
  • Participate in a multi-stage review and final evaluation of design and construction documents in order to confirm compliance with the contract deliverables and project documents (including but not limited to drawing set organization, details, dimensions, interdisciplinary coordination items, specifications coordination, etc.) in order to uphold HPA’s quality control procedures
  • Work independently on multiple, concurrent projects, at various stages

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture or in a related field (construction or engineering)
  • Experience in multifamily and mixed-use development
  • 7+ years of industry experience in similar project types
  • Proven track record of preparing conceptual, schematic, design development, construction documents, and other  materials
  • Established thorough knowledge of building materials, detailing, construction techniques, building systems selection, related engineering principles, sustainability strategies and building codes
  • Demonstrated practical understanding of the application of software such as AutoCAD, MasterSpec, Bluebeam and Newforma
  • Experience with CSI specification formats is required
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office – specifically Word, PowerPoint and spreadsheet programs
  • Demonstrated specifications examples that portray a highly organized professional
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to instruct and mentor other team members
  • Effective time management skills and ability to follow-up in a timely manner
  • Excellent clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
  • Positive attitude with high energy
  • Has a fundamental understanding of multi-discipline practices required to execute small to large scale multifamily projects – from high-rise to mixed-use, as well as luxury to affordable housing
  • Proactive with research and consistent follow-through
  • Extensive knowledge of building codes, structures and materials standards to develop specification requirements and solutions

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has a fundamental understanding of hotel/hospitality projects
  • Is a licensed Architect or Engineer
