Overlay

Inspired by Josef Albers’ 1963 Interaction of Color as well as his Homage to the Square series, Overlay uses space and movement to reveal how colors are mixed together. As each of the five tunnels overlaps, the color from one side of each member is mixed with the adjacent member on the neighboring tunnel. This mixture is revealed when the user moves through the space and sees how each color comes from a combination of other colors.

This is the second in a series of pavilions that use movement to challenge our perception of color and space.  The previous pavilion, Saturation, used complimentary warm and cool colors to create moments of intensity as users moved through the structure. Saturation can be viewed here: http://www.jacobesocoff.com/Saturation
