Mount Greylock Regional School

This combined middle school/high school sits in the Berkshire    Mountains overlooking Mount Greylock. The existing building was built in 1960 to accomodate 1200 student and needed to be right-sized for its present enrollment of 535. Key objectives during the planning and design phases were to create a solution that consolidates the existing 177,800 sf facility into an educationally effective plan at 132,800 sf.

The solution preserved the existing Gymnasium and Performing Arts wings, connecting them with a new technology and arts spine, including Media Center, Cafeteria, and Multi-Purpose spaces. The new three-story academic wing is oriented to optimize natural daylight and energy efficiency, while taking advantage of beautiful views of Mount Greylock.

As BIM Lead for the project, I wrote the project’s BIM Execution Plan and performed initial setup of the Revit model during the Design Development phase. I led consultant coordination meetings,             utilizing clash detection to resolve construction issues before they could be found in the field.

During this project, I also began developing content for the Perkins Eastman’s K-12 Revit Template and Library. This project will improve the efficiency of all of the firm’s K-12 projects going forward, allowing more time to be focused on design improvements.
