About

Hi there.

I am an Irish graduate of University College Dublin’s M.Arch program, and a current Brooklyn resident. I have two years of experience in NAVA Architects, a Manhattan-based practice focusing mainly on high-end residential projects, as well as a year in Dublin practice O’Donnell + Tuomey Architects, where I worked on a number of cultural and civic projects.

Aside from architecture, I’m particularly passionate about product and furniture design, illustration, music, film and a range of sports.

Employment

NAVA Architects, New York, NY, US, Junior Architect

Over the course of my time at NAVA, my primary focus was the CD and CA phases of a gut renovation of 21A, 784 Park Avenue, a duplex penthouse in a Landmarked Upper East Side apartment buidling. This project is currently nearing completion.

At the same time, I headed the SD phase for a gut renovation and extension of a Landmarked brownstone in Cobble Hill, contributed to the CD and CA phases on a high-end condominium building at 4th Avenue and 10th Street, and have been working on the DD and CD phase for a high-end residential building at 14 White Street in TriBeCa.

NAVA’s dual role as developer and architect has afforded me a keen education in how to manage a project efficiently, and how to deliver outstanding design in the most commercially astute way possible.

Arkitektskolen Aarhus - The Aarhus School of Architecture, Aarhus, DK, BArch, Architecture

I completed an Erasmus (exchange program) in Arkitektskolen Aarhus during my 4th year of study. It was an extremely formative part of my education, as the Danish focus on craftsmanship, as well as the School's formidable range of building lab equipment, encouraged a broadening of what I had thought could be defined as 'architecture' - now hat stands, chairs, pottery and everyday products entered this canon.

A two-month project involving the design of a chair instigated this evolution in thinking - where before, the only scales I was familiar with were in the 1:500 - 1:20 range, now I was working daily at 1:1, lending a heightened appreciation of how each millimeter was being used, and the effect this had on me was transformative.
